Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional and a credentialed equine professional partner with suitable equine to address psychotherapy goals determined by the mental health professional and the client.

Though large and powerful, a horse is also social and sensitive, acutely aware of his environment.  This prey animal nature presents opportunities for people to address mental health issues through goal-oriented experiences. Most equine assisted psychotherapy does not involve riding, but rather includes working with the horse in unmounted activities that involve communication, creative thinking, leadership, and/or other skills.
